56% of Married Men Who Are NFL Fans Would Skip Their Wedding Anniversary for the Super Bowl

Would you skip celebrating your wedding anniversary to watch your NFL team in the Super Bowl?

Love or football? For more than half of married NFL fans aged 18 to 65, that is not even a debate.

Bettor In Green recently conducted a poll asking married men who consider themselves NFL fans one simple question:

“Would you skip celebrating your wedding anniversary to watch your NFL team in the Super Bowl?

The result? 56% said yes. When there is a Lombardi Trophy on the line, romance can apparently wait.

The Ultimate Test of Commitment

Anniversaries are important, but for many fans, a Super Bowl appearance is sacred. When asked to choose between a candlelit dinner and kickoff, more than half were ready to trade roses for touchdowns.

And honestly, who can blame them? Your anniversary happens every year. A Super Bowl run might come once in a lifetime, unless you are a Patriots fan.

What This Says About NFL Fandom

This is not just about football; it is about identity. For die-hard fans, their team’s success feels personal. When the big game arrives, everything else — reservations, champagne toasts, even milestone anniversaries — takes a backseat.

Still, if you are one of the 56 percent, you might want to prepare a solid post-game recovery plan. Flowers, chocolate, and maybe a weekend getaway should be the bare minimum.

Methodology

This poll was conducted by Bettor In Green using Pollfish. We surveyed 100 married men in the United States, aged 18 to 65, who self-identified as NFL fans. Only respondents who confirmed both being married and being NFL fans qualified to answer the main question.
